Soft Skills for Caregivers: Active Listening

 

Miscommunication is a frequent problem among family or frontline caregivers. What is far more complex and less frequently discussed is how to be a good listener. In fact, according to Ward Gregg, “less than 2% of the population has had formal education on how to listen.”[1] This lack of empathetic training is particularly distressing for caregivers as much of what you do centers on paying attention to what you hear.
